When can I travel?

We travel all Saturdays, Sundays and holidays in Colombia on the route:

BOGOTÁ – ZIPAQUIRÁ – BOGOTÁ.

We do not travel during the week.

*** The tour can only start in Bogota and we do not sell a single route.

What are the departure points of the Savannah train?

The only departure points for the La Sabana Tourist Train are:

 

* West side of the Gran Estación Shopping Center - Carrera 66 with Calle 26, railway platform in front of the Plazoleta de Los Alfiles (Bogotá central-west zone): Departs at 8:45 am.

 

* Usaquén Station, Avenida Carrera 9 # 110 - 08, diagonal to Centro Comercial Santa Ana (Bogotá north zone): Arrives 9:05 am. - Departure 9:15 am.

 

We will no longer depart from La Sabana station.

This measure is permanent.

What is the route like?

The tour starts in the center-west of Bogota, crosses the city and travels through the beautiful savannah to the town of Zipaquira. Enjoy observing the capital and its surroundings from a different and novel point of view.

Our cars are equipped with comfortable, spacious, reclining seats, toilet service in each car and numbered seats.

What is the itinerary?

There is only one train per day on the Bogotá - Zipaquirá - Bogotá route.

Please keep in mind that the train remains in Zipaquira for 4 hours and 30 minutes, from 10:45 am. to 3:15 pm. We suggest that you be at the Zipaquirá Train Station at 3:00 pm. so that it does not leave you.

 

TOURIST TRAIN ITINERARY TO ZIPAQUIRÁ:

* West side of the Gran Estación Shopping Center - Carrera 66 with Calle 26, railway platform in front of the Plazoleta de Los Alfiles (Bogotá central-west zone): Departs at 8:45 am.

* Usaquén Station, Avenida Carrera 9 # 110 - 08, diagonal to Centro Comercial Santa Ana (Bogotá north zone): Arrives 9:05 am. - Departure 9:15 am.

* Zipaquirá Station: Arrives 10:45 am. - Departs 3:15 pm.

* Usaquén Station, Avenida Carrera 9 # 110 - 08, diagonal to Centro Comercial Santa Ana (Bogotá north zone): Arrives 4:45 pm. - Departure 4:50 pm.

* West side of the Gran Estación Shopping Mall - Carrera 66 with Calle 26, railway platform in front of the Plazoleta de Los Alfiles (Bogotá central-west zone): arrives at 5:15 pm.

 

(The total duration of the activity is 8 hours and 30 minutes).

What is the price of the Zipaquira train ticket?

These prices are per passenger in Colombian pesos COP.

* Adults: COP $ 78,000.

* Children from 3 to 12 years old and seniors from 60 years old: COP $ 73,000.

(Infants in arms under 3 years of age do NOT pay as long as they do NOT occupy a stall).

What is included in the tourist train to Zipaquira?

INCLUDES:

Round trip on the Bogotá - Zipaquirá - Bogotá route.

NOT INCLUDED:

It does not include any type of food.

Does not include entrance fees to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira.

How can I buy tickets for the tourist train to Zipaquira?

You can purchase your tickets for the Tren Turístico, in cash or with Visa, MasterCard or American Express debit and credit cards at:

Only days in advance. In this box office already THE TRAIN DOES NOT DEPART - IT IS EXCLUSIVE FOR ADVANCE TICKET SALES.

It can be in advance or the same day of the trip, subject to availability.

 

* Directly on the train the same day of the trip, subject to availability.

Can I visit the salt cathedral of Zipaquira?

For your convenience, during the trip to Zipaquira, on the train you can buy, only in cash, the entrance tickets to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira. (It is not mandatory) We also offer optional bus transportation from the train station in Zipaquira to the Salt Cathedral.

 

ADDITIONAL PRICES ENTRANCE TO THE SALT CATHEDRAL OF ZIPAQUIRA NATIONAL: (Subject to supplier availability).

* Entrance fee for children up to 12 years old and adults over 60 years old: $54.000

IT IS OBLIGATORY TO PRESENT AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE CATHEDRAL THE CITIZENSHIP CARD, PASSWORD OR IDENTITY CARD ISSUED IN COLOMBIA.

Is there a bus from the Zipaquira train station to the Salt Cathedral?

On the train during the outbound trip to Zipaquira you will be able to buy in cash in Colombian pesos $7.000, the bus transportation from the train station in Zipaquira to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira (1.7 kms. approximately). Please keep in mind that this is only one way transportation.

 

For the return trip from the Salt Cathedral to the Zipaquira Train Station you can take local public transportation.

Can I bring pets?

We love pets very much, but for the comfort of all passengers we do NOT allow them on board.

Can I bring wheelchairs and do you have access ramps?

The tourist train travels in antique and classic cars which do not have access ramps; passengers must access the car (wagon) by their own means.

They may bring a wheelchair as long as it is foldable so that it can fit into one of the train cars. During the trip the person must be in a seat on the train and the wheelchair will remain folded. The entire process of boarding and deboarding with a wheelchair will be the responsibility of the passenger's companions.

 

NOTE: While the corresponding entities carry out the adequacy of the rail corridor located on the west side of the Gran Estación Shopping Center, Carrera 66 with Calle 26, in front of the Plazoleta de Los Afiles, we suggest you start the tour at the Usaquén Station, since there is no adequate access for wheelchairs to the train boarding platform.

Recommendations for you to enjoy the experience
  • Arrive early, calculate the traffic jams in Bogota, you don't want to be left behind by the train!
  • The facilities (stations) for boarding and de-boarding the train, the entrance to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral (approximately 300 meters) and the restaurants are outdoors and do not have protection against the rain.
  • Be sure to bring sunscreen and a hat and don't forget to bring a poncho, rain coat and umbrella - don't get wet!
  • Bring comfortable shoes, don't wear high heels.
  • Always keep minors in sight. Take a picture together!
  • Do not forget your personal belongings inside the train!
